FluentMedia To Deliver Premium News Content to Airline Passengers Via the Verizon Airfone JetConnect Service
(Chicago, IL, September 24, 2002) - FluentMedia™, a content-licensing agency of Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB), today announced plans to provide premium news content from America's top newspapers, wire services and trade publications to airline passengers via the Verizon Airfone JetConnect^SM inflight data service.

The JetConnect custom content portal will deliver news from FluentMedia's premium information providers through Verizon's existing delivery network. Passengers will access the information using their personal laptop computers, for a per-flight usage fee. The service will be available aboard select aircraft equipped with Verizon Airfone in-flight telephone service.

"Our relationship with Verizon Airfone has allowed FluentMedia to expand its electronic information service beyond the corporate intranet market," said John Twohey, general manager of FluentMedia. "We will be supplying a blend of general news and special-interest content from some of the most respected names in the media to a broad set of airline passengers."

Passengers will be able to stay current on a wide range of topics including national and international affairs, the economy, technology, entertainment and travel. The service also will include an up-to-date city guide that will brief travelers on entertainment, dining and cultural attractions and provide histories of more than 100 North American destinations.

FluentMedia will deliver top national and business stories from the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA TODAY, Chicago Tribune, Newsday, Baltimore Sun, Orlando Sentinel and other major daily newspapers. Breaking news from The Associated Press and Knight-Ridder/Tribune Business News will be updated throughout the day, and the FluentMedia feed will include business coverage from more than 100 U.S. and international newspapers. Also available will be in-depth industry news from dozens of business journals including Daily Variety, Advertising Age, Broadcasting & Cable, CNET News.com, Information Week and TechWeb.
